Louisiana Medicare Supplement Plans are Standardized
The Louisiana Department of Insurance and the federal government passed laws that require insurance carriers to standardize Medicare Supplement insurance. Plans must be identified as Medicare Supplement Insurance and plans must follow the state's standardized naming convention. Each standardized plan offers the same benefits. Only the monthly premiums, and how the premiums are calculated, may vary.
All Medicare Supplements sold in Louisiana provide the same general benefits, however, some provide more gap coverage. This lets you to select the plan with the amount of insurance you want.
Each carrier markets the policies it deems best. Insurers:
- Are not required to offer every plan
- Must offer Plan A
- Must also offer Plan C or Plan F
