Medicare Plan F is Going Away in 2020
In 2020 you will no longer be able to purchase a Medicare Supplement Plan F in Tennessee. However, if you get a Plan F policy in Tennessee now you will be able to keep it. These highly valuable supplemental plans are being phased out as a cost cutting measure for the government. The theory is that seniors will stop seeing their doctor if they have to pay out-of-pocket.
Join a Tennessee Medicare Part D Plan for Rx Coverage
A supplement does not pay for your prescriptions. By law, supplemental insurance must cover Original Medicare covers, and nothing more. Foreign travel coverage is the only exception. To get help with your prescriptions, you'll need to join a Tennessee Medicare Part D plan.
Tennessee has Standardized Medicare Supplements
Tennessee insurance carriers are required to follow both state and federal laws regulating Medicare Supplements. Plans are standardized and must provide the exact coverage mandated. The only variance is the premium and how the premium is calculated.
All Medicare Supplements sold in Tennessee provide the same general benefits, however, some provide more gap coverage. This lets you to select the plan with the amount of insurance you want.
Each carrier markets the policies it deems best. Insurers:
- Are not required to offer every plan
- Must offer Plan A
- Must also offer Plan C or Plan F
