Top Dental Plans for Seniors in Louisiana

We have organized all of the best dental plans for seniors we could find in Louisiana. Original Medicare does not include regular oral healthcare benefits. To get coverage you’ll need to enroll in a private plan (or join a Medicare Advantage plan with dental benefits). The rates we show are samples to help you compare costs in your state.

Dental Plans for Seniors in Louisiana: What to Look Out For

There are some great options available, but take care to read the fine print. Read the coverage details, not just the price. Most dental plans for seniors have limits, including annual and lifetime benefit limits. Many also include waiting periods before the plan will pay for anything except cleanings and checkups. If you need oral work now, you might want to consider a dental savings plan. We recommend browsing all of the Louisiana senior dental plans and rates we've cataloged on this page so you can get a better idea of coverage, benefits and costs.

Affordable Dental Care for Louisiana Seniors

Staying in good health as you age has a lot to do with your dental care. Original Medicare doesn’t cover dental and most Medicare Advantage plans with dental coverage are severely limited. This means you’ll be paying out of pocket for dental care or enrolling in one of the best affordable dental plans that won't bust your budget.

Are you skipping regular dental visits because your budget can't afford it? Do you have dentures, bridges or dental implants and think that regular appointments with your dentist are no longer beneficial? Do you think it's a waste your time going to the dentist because you can't afford the procedures your dentist recommends? Well, no matter what condition your smile (and budget) is in now, it’s super important to see a dentist regularly.

No matter what the excuse is for not getting regular care, poor oral health puts extra stress on your body. Studies have shown how gum infections and dental decay have a direct link to serious chronic health conditions, like stroke and heart disease, rheumatism and diabetes. In addition to this, your body needs good nutrition and rest to stay healthy. It's hard to eat and sleep well when your moth is sore.

For these reasons and more, it’s important to get the quality dental care you need at a cost that’s affordable. Here are some options:

  1. PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) is a Medicare and Medicaid program that helps Louisiana seniors meet their health care needs in the community, including dentistry.
  2. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) supports federally-funded health centers in Louisiana for those with no insurance or limited income. Many Louisiana clinics offer sliding scale payments based on what you can afford. Visit the site or call 1–888–275–4772.
  3. The Dental Life Network provides “access to comprehensive dental services for people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically at-risk.” They have a nationwide network of 17,000 volunteer dentists and 3,700 dental laboratories, including location in Louisiana; all offering services free of charge. Visit their website or call 303-534-5360.
  4. The non-profit Dentistry From The Heart (DFTH) offers “free dental care to those in need.” Volunteer dentists and hygienists donate their time for events around Louisiana. Treatment offered includes cleaning, filling, and extraction.
  5. Eldercare Locator, a service of the Administration on Aging, allows you to search for services throughout Louisiana. To speak with an information specialist call 1-800-677-1116.
  6. 2-1-1 Information and Referral Search is sponsored by the United Way and can connect you to services around Louisiana. Simply dial 211. The number will connect you to a trained professional who will gladly answer your questions or direct you to an organization that can provide assistance.
